"Breaking News", breaking your heart?

Updated: May 23, 2020

Did you know that it has been proven that awareness begins in the heart and not the brain?

And did you know that brain-heart two-way communication is constant? The heart actually sends far more signals to the brain than the brain does to the heart! The heart’s intricacies are sophisticated enough to qualify as a heart brain.

Whether you are among those drawn the news like a moth to the flame or someone who avoids the news, these days it is pretty much inescapable.

You may think you are unaffected because you feel confident that you hear it and let it go. Whether you think it bothers you or not, your body remembers. Because it remembers and emotions are definitely inescapable, they constantly have an impact on health and wellbeing. There’s a great book by Babette Rothschild, MSW, LCSW, you might want to check out “The Body Remembers – The Psychophysiology of Trauma and Trauma Treatment”. While typically you may not view the news as traumatizing, your body and your subconscious mind may not see it the same way.

Have you ever noticed what you experience when you listen to the news? Try tuning in next time (no pun intended?), and take note of tension in your body or other physical responses. Notice as well, what sort of emotional responses take place?

So what do we do, especially when we feel the need to stay informed or find ourselves distressed by the news?

First, you may want to consider silently tapping through the sequence as you read or listen. Chances are doing so will minimize the jolts.

Next, whether you tap through while taking in the news or not, tapping your way through the responses you consciously noticed will serve you well!

Since wisdom and knowledge are power, here’s a link to learn more about your heart’s consciousness and awareness preceding that of the brain:

When we incorporate Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) into our daily routine, it helps remove the disruptions and disturbances generated in our energy fields, helping to strengthen overall wellbeing. Aren’t you worth it, even if you only give it 10 or 15 minutes a day?

AND please watch comedies, listen to music you find uplifting and dance to it! Laugh and smile!

As always, your comments and questions are welcome.

Wishing you perfect health, joy and peace within,

Sophia
